The researcher provides the following caveats regarding the lineage of Kit 48278 above:

- There is no solid paper trail that ties William Gilbert (6) to Samuel Gilbert Jr. (5).  There is no probate record, location or date for Samuel Gilbert Jr., thus his children cannot be determined conclusively.

-  A Webster Gilbert and William Gilbert lived in Robertson Co., TN at the same time as Samuel Gilbert and both Webster and William married Byrd sisters.   The assumption has long been made by Gilbert and Byrd researchers that William and Webster were brothers and were the sons of Samuel Jr., but there is no proof.

DNA Results

The DNA results show conclusively that Kit 48278 is a member of the Garvis Gilbert line.   The results do not prove that the lineage above is correct nor that William Gilbert was indeed the son of Samuel Gilbert Jr., but they do indicate it's a viable theory.

DNA Results for Kit 142021 also confirm descent from the Garvis Gilbert.
