This project participant came to us from ancestry.com as yet another descendant of the Thomas Gilbert of Braintree, MA line having a different last name for whatever reason.

What makes this line interesting is that "Seth Brown" can readily found in census records in 1860 and 1870 in La Porte Co., IN, but cannot be found in 1850.   He marriage to Diana Bell in 1851 in La Porte Co. is documented, though, as you can see below.   There were Brown families in La Porte Co. at the time, but he is not listed with any of them.   The researcher has wondered if he had perhaps undergone a name change.  There is also discrepancy throughout the various census records I found as to whether Seth was born in Ohio or Indiana.
