Stephen Stills in Philly

5/10/2006 - Theatre of Living Arts

So I made the trek up to Philly to take in a rare solo appearance of one of my all-time favorites...Stephen Stills.  Stephen has a great new solo album out...his first in 14 years...called "Man Alive."  I absolutely love it!  Anyway, the concert took place at a very small venue called the Theatre of Living Arts on South St. in Philly.   I probably shouldn't admit to this publicly, but I made the 79 mile drive to South St. in just a little over an hour.

Having never been to South St. before, I wanted to take it all in.  The first thing I did was walk from where I parked right across from the theatre up to Broad St. to check out Philly's music "Walk of Fame."   I took photos on the walk up and back of some of the neat artwork on buildings in the neighborhood, and of course took some photos on the Walk of Fame.  After having a great dinner at South St. Souvlaki, I walked down to Penn's Landing where I could see the Tweeter Center across the river (where CSNY will be playing in July).   On the way down, I stopped by a store and got my ears pierced (again).  This was only the second time, but it had been about 30 years since the first piercing, so I figured I was due.   After Penn's Landing, I stopped by Downey's for some refreshments, and then headed back up to the theatre for the show.

Below are pictures from my day on South St. and the concert.   I wasn't close enough to get good shots of Stephen, but I'll post what I got anyway.
