Evergreen, Colorado

In late August, I flew out to Colorado and spent several days with my friend Tom in Evergreen.   What a gorgeous place!    During the week we went to Boulder, drove up Mt. Evans with his sister and brother-in-law, saw a concert at Red Rocks, and spent an evening at the "Hoosier Hideaway."  (His brother-in-law's parents are from Indiana and have a beautiful "compound" in the mountains.)    The "splotch" you see on a few of the photos is horse slobber from when Archie sneezed on me.  I didn't realize he'd slimed the camera lens until after I'd shot quite a few photos.

Goings On at the Hoosier Hideaway

One night, Dick and Sarah were kind enough to have a big crew over for dinner.   We spent a beautiful evening on the deck.   Adjacent to Dick and Sarah's property, Bart and Malinda have a cabin and land on which they're starting to build a house.   I absolutely marveled at what was just the beginnings of the construction process.  All they had done was had a path for the driveway blasted and plowed, but that alone was amazing to me.   I have several photos of the driveway below.

On top of Mt. Evans

One of the highlights of the trip was a drive to the top of Mt. Evans.   Bart kindly played chauffeur.  What was so amazing to me was seeing bicyclists making the ride!  The parking lot near the top is at 14,130 feet and then you climb the last 130 feet to the summit.   The view was breathtaking!
