Living next door to...

second wife he's only been married to 5 years.)

This is where things get interesting. When you see something like these
Snider households above, you logically start thinking that Wiley could be
Daniel's son The ages are right and Wiley even says that his father was born
in AL and Daniel was. So now I set off to find Wiley living with Daniel as
a young boy.
Here's the only entry in Mississippi that could possibly be the Daniel above.
There is no Daniel in the census that fits, but this Newton does, and we know
that Daniel was "Daniel N." in the 1900 census. He's probably just going by
Newton in this census. If Wiley was his son, though, where is he? He
should have been about 8 or 9 years old in 1880, and he's not here.

Wilmer 19 AL AL AL
Dannil (sic) 16 MS AL AL
Ida 7 MS AL AL
I then searched for any sign of a Snider or Snyder boy in Mississippi who was
about Wiley's age, and this "Willie" below is the only one close.

Elizabeth 38 SC SC SC
Effy 12 MS AL SC
Maud 10 MS AL SC
Willie 7 MS AL SC
Claud 2 MS AL SC
So bottom line, I have no idea who Wiley's parents were. From here on are just some possible census entries of interest.
Here's Daniel Snider in the 1870 census. He's is a different county, but you
can see now that this is definitely the same family as the Newton Snider in
1880.
